Robert And Helen Carriker

Mrs. Helen Steele Carriker, 81, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, and her husband, Mr. Robert "Leon" Carriker, 84, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at Genesis Elder Care (Salisbury Center).

A joint memorial service is scheduled for Helen and Leon on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Victory Temple, Cline School Road in Concord. Rev. Gary Posey will officiate. Their interment was at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will visit with friends at the church an hour prior to the service.

Helen was born May 2, 1936 in Rowan County. She was the daughter of the late Luther F. Steele and Ola Barrier Steele. She was a retired employee of Terry Products in Kannapolis. Leon was born May 3, 1933 in Stanly County, and was a son of the late Stacy Carriker and Maude Greene Carriker. He retired from Canon Mills where he worked 44 years in the Drawing Room and then nine years with their security force.

They are both survived by her brother, Ronald G. Steele (Emily) of Kannapolis; many nieces and nephews; and their loving canine companion, Pepper.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by a brother, Guy F. Steele (Rachel) of Kannapolis.

In addition to his parents, Leon was preceded in death by three brothers, Marcus Carriker, Boger Carriker, and Marvin Carriker; and two sisters, Lena Love and Marie Simpson.
