Robert Lee Hudson

January 17, 1942 — May 4, 2017

Mr. Robert Lee Hudson, 75, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis after a lengthy illness.

A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ed Burns will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:45 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home.

Mr. Hudson was born January 17, 1942 in Cabarrus County and was raised in Kannapolis. He was a son of the late John W. Hudson and Myrtle Moore Hudson, who were longtime residents of Kannapolis. In his early years, Robert was an active sportsman involved in baseball and basketball. Later, when his son developed an interest in baseball, his love for sports evolved into coaching Little League Baseball. He remained a fan of baseball and football and enjoyed watching the Intimidators and the Wonders play, as well as watching games on TV. Robert was an avid reader and had read thousands of books during his lifetime.

Mr. Hudson attended Kannapolis City Schools. He graduated in 1960 from A.L. Brown and furthered his education at Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory. After graduating, he fulfilled his military duty in the Army National Guard and began his career in banking and finance with Citizens Savings and Loan. Later, he worked many years for the Supreme Corporation as the comptroller in the Hickory office. He was an active member of the community, holding offices in local clubs and organizations such as the Lions Club and Jaycees. He was well liked and respected in the community where he had recently resided before his illness and was a past HOA officer for his development.

Robert had a passion for pets, particularly dogs. Some of his pets lived with Mr. Hudson for many years as did his precious golden lab, Rosie. He and Rosie shared fourteen years as buddies.

Mr. Hudson was of the protestant faith and had attended Methodist churches in the local area.

Mr. Hudson leaves behind one son, Christopher Hudson and wife Jenny; granddaughter, Ainsley Hudson, all of Charlotte; and two brothers, David Hudson and wife Dot of Bessemer City and Eric Hudson and wife Carol of Kannapolis.
