For the first time, on February 25, 2026, Ronald "Ronnie" Paul Campbell was early to something, Heaven. He passed away peacefully at his home in Cleveland.
Ronnie was born on May 18, 1955 to the late Paul Howard Campbell and Dorothy "Dot" Ann Steele Campbell. He is survived by his wife, Donna Custer; two children Brandon Campbell and wife Jayden and Garrett Campbell and wife Katie, both of Cleveland; step-son Bryan Custer and wife Jennifer of Mocksville, niece Melissa Donovan and nephew Jeremy Campbell. He was a proud "Pops" to seven grandchildren, Emma, Luke, Chloe, Liam, and Abigail Campbell, and Lindsey and Abbey Custer. Ronnie is also survived by Lu Ann Campbell of Shalotte, Dustin and Caitlin Reavis, and a host of loving family members. He is also preceded in death by his older brother, Larry Wayne Campbell.
The family invites all who knew Ronnie to an informal visitation at South River Church on Saturday, February 28th at 1 to 1:45pm and funeral service to follow at 2pm.
Ronnie's family members remember him fondly as a man who had a servant's heart, spending his days at the beach, fixing anything for anyone in the community, hanging out at Jones' store, or telling old funny stories. But most of all, he is remembered for his tremendous love and passion for his family and friends. His sons carry on his legacy with the same selfless and passionate heart for people.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Rowan-Iredell Fire Department (5757 Chenault Road Cleveland) or South River Church (2880 South River Church Road Woodleaf) where Ronnie, and his late father, were both life members and volunteers.
