Mr. Ronald Jimmy Wine, Sr., 71, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Monday, July 13, 2026, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Bishop Herman Crockett will officiate. Interment will follow at the Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:45 am prior to his service at Lady's Funeral Home.
Ronald was born on December 10, 1954 in Manhattan, NY. He was a son of the late Eddie Wine and Laura Bell Wine. He was raised by his foster parents, Solomon Branch and Lillian Branch. Mr. Wine proudly served in the US Army for 22 years. After retiring from the military, he was a power generator mechanic and continued the same work for a private contractor in Afghanistan for 10 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Sharon Sterling, Annette Wine, Helen Williams, Rita Jones, Patricia Seymour, and Barbara Branch; and brothers, Artie Wine and Gregory.
Mr. Wine is survived by his wife, Rukia Hamis of Kenya, Africa; brothers Kenneth Wine and John Spann; two sisters, Priscilla Grifin and Suzannah Wine-Hassan Bey; his great uncle, Joseph Green; eight children; Ronald Wine Jr. and wife Desiree of Concord, Jamar Wine of Charlotte, Yolanda Wine, Doran Thompson, and Desiree Thompson, all of Louisville, KY, Mercy Wanjiru, Maryanne Wambui and Maryland Green; 36 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five nephews; and four nieces.
