Mr. Ronald Elman Drye, 57, of 2105 Englewood Street, Kannapolis, died Friday, January 3, 2003, after a nine year battle with Alzheimer's came to an end. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2003, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel at 5:00 PM. Rev. Jimmy Norred and Rev. David Morrow will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Drye was born on September 25, 1945 in Stanly County, NC. He was a son of the late Cecil Drye and Eunice Newsome Drye. He was a barber for many years. He retired due to ill health from Rowan Distributing Company in Salisbury where he was supervisor of the draft department. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and the Kannapolis Moose Lodge. Mr. Drye is survived by his wife, Nancy Ennis Drye; two daughters, Ronda Drye Lewis of Locust, Angela L. Christy and her husband, Donnie, of Salisbury; brother, James Drye and his wife, Mary, of Concord; four grandchildren, Julie Lewis, Chase Lewis, Tyler Christy and Tanner Christy; brother-in-law, Bobby Ennis of Kannapolis. Memorials may be sent to Carolina Piedmont Chapter, Alzheimer's Association, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215. Ron will be greatly missed.
