Mrs. Marjorie Eagle Long, 84, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2015, at Avante at Concord.
A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Sunday, September 13, 2015, at New Gilead Reformed Church. Rev. Jeff Richards will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm Sunday at New Gilead Reformed Church.
Mrs. Long was born June 24, 1931 in Rowan County. She was a daughter of the late Lee Andrew Eagle and Nannie Troutman Hartis Eagle. She retired from Cannon Mills Plant 4, where she worked in the weave room. She was a member of New Gilead Reformed Church. She loved music and was a former member of the choir, as well as the Women’s Guild. Marjorie was a graduate of Winecoff High School.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Hayden L. Long.
Mrs. Long is survived by one sister, Jeanette Weatherman of Kannapolis; one nephew, Bob Weatherman and wife, Cheryl, of Salisbury; two nieces, Patsy Caudill, and husband, Lester, of Kannapolis, and Nancy Cooke, and husband, Clayton, of Boone. She is also survived by six great nieces and nephews and their families. Marjorie is also survived by an additional special nephew, Jimmy Long, and his wife, Linda, of Kannapolis.
Memorials may be made to New Gilead Reformed Church, 2400 Old Salisbury-Concord Road, Concord, NC 28025.
