Rose Etta Wood Ury

Mrs. Rose Etta Wood Drury, 87, passed away Thursday, September 11, 2008, at Big Elm Nursing Center in Kannapolis. A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Monday, September 15, 2008, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ruth Atkinson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 pm Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. Mrs. Drury was born June 18, 1921 in Royston, GA. She was a daughter of the late Barnette Wood and Maude Shellnut Wood. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Landis. The cremains of Mrs. Drury will be scattered in the mountains of North Carolina that she loved so much. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Drury; two sons, Larry and Ronnie Powell; and nine brothers and sisters. Mrs. Drury is survived by her daughter, Sybil Evans and husband, Timothy, of Kannapolis; daughter-in-law, Juanita Powell of Raleigh; a brother, William Wood and wife, Hilda, of Kannapolis; seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. The family would like to thank the staffs of Hospice of Cabarrus County and Big Elm Nursing Center for the love and care given to Mrs. Drury.
