Mr. Roy Lee Allman, 77, of 1404 Birch Street, Kannapolis, died Monday, October 27, 2008, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Robert Suttles will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. At other times, they will be at the home of Alice and Jack Sloop, 1405 Birch Street, Kannapolis. Born January 22, 1931 in Rowan County, Roy was the son of the late Earl Calvin Allman and Julia Wright Allman. A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the VFW. He retired several years ago as an electronics engineer with WGHP television station in High Point. He was member of West Corinth Baptist Church. Roy played in several Bluegrass Gospel bands. He enjoyed playing in nursing homes from Kannapolis to High Point. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Burkhart Allman, who died September 21, 2006; a sister, Katherine Brotherton; and five brothers, Everette, Ralph, E.W., Harold, and Jerry Allman. Survivors include a sister, Ruby Harrington of Mooresville; and a brother, Richard Allman of Kannapolis.
