Roy B. Roberts

Mr. Roy Benjamin "Dinah" Roberts, 96, a resident of Liberty Commons, Salisbury and formerly of North Beaver Street, Landis, died Sunday May 7, 2006. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Landis. The Rev. Jarrod Lanning will officiate. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service. At other times they will make headquarters at the home of a daughter, Judy Davis, 326 N. Beaver Street, Landis. Mr. Roberts was born in Rowan County, on March 4, 1910, a son of the late Claude Albert Roberts and Bessie Lou Litaker Roberts. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church and greatly enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was employed with the Town of Landis where he retired from the water department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maude Turner Roberts; a daughter Patti R. Smith; and a grandson, Phil Adkins. Survivors include three sons, Jerry A. Roberts and wife Melinda, of Lake Norman, Don M. Roberts and wife Gilma, of Asheville, David A. Roberts and wife Gay, of Landis; four daughters, Nancy R. Adkins and husband Bill, Linda R. Sorrow and husband Jack, Judy R. Davis and husband Bob, all of Landis and Becky R. Drye and husband Gordon, of Faith, NC. 21 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 108 West Rice Street, Landis, NC 28088.
