Ruby Scarborough Hayes

Ruby Scarborough Hayes, 89, of Landis, died Wednesday, July 5, 2006, at Avante at Concord. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2006, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. David Heim and the Rev. Jay Stewart will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of her daughter, Kathy S. Raymer of Kannapolis. Born June 30, 1917, in Madison County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Wilburn O'Kelley and Sara Elizabeth Wright O'Kelley. She was a retired employee of the public schools where she was employed in food service. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Guy Cohen Scarborough, who died in 1985. Survivors include her husband, Conway Hayes; two daughters, Ms. Kathy S. Raymer of Kannapolis and Mrs. Joyce S. Heim and husband, the Rev. Robert Heim, of South Boston, Va.; a son, Richard C. Scarborough and wife, Joyce, of Charlotte; three grandchildren, the Rev. David Heim and wife Ruth, Jonathan Heim, and Shannon Raymer; and two great-grandchildren, Alan Heim and Matthew Heim.
