Ruby Joplin Self

Mrs. Ruby Joplin Self, 72, of 425 Pleasant Avenue, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at her home following a period of declining health. A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Friday, July 30, 2010, in Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gary Posey will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:00 pm Friday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at her home on Pleasant Avenue. Mrs. Self was born April 14, 1938 in Chesterfield County, SC. She was a daughter of the late Edward Joplin and Nettie Jordan Self. She retired from China Grove Cotton Mill and enjoyed many artistic activities such as painting, making crafts and passing on family traditions. She was always happy, stern, loveable and enjoyed taking care of her family. Mrs. Self is survived by her husband Oscar Self; daughter, Linda Self of Kannapolis; two sons, Randy Self and wife, Cindy and Timothy Self, all of Kannapolis; sister, Bobbie Holbrook of Rockwell; six grandchildren, Amy Self, Tina Sinclair, Crystal Gainey, Jesse Self, Timothy Self, Jr. and Ronnie Wilkerson, Jr.; and nine great grandchildren.
