Ruby Smith

Mrs. Ruby Barnett Smith, 87, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Big Elm Retirement Center.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Steve Beam will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.

Mrs. Smith was born on January 21, 1926 in Corinth, GA. She was a daughter of the late J. Barnett and Jerolene Gaddy Barnett. She retired from Cannon Mills where she worked as a spinner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer Reid Smith in May 2002.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, Douglas Smith and wife Marilynn of Kannapolis; sister, Willie Mae Gillespie of Landis; two brothers, Elmer Barnett and wife Mildred of Landis and Lee Barnett and wife Carol of China Grove; grandson, Danny Smith and wife Peidi of China Grove; and great granddaughter, Allison Smith.
