Ruth Taylor Griffin

Mrs. Ruth Taylor Griffin, 99, of 706 Oakshade Avenue, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at Avante at Concord in Concord. A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Friday, December 17, 2010, at First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Catherine George and Rev. Kris Edscorn will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm Friday at First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Griffin was born March 27, 1911 in Kannapolis, NC. She was the daughter of the late J. C. Taylor and Beulah DeMarcus Taylor. She was a homemaker. She was currently the oldest member of First Presbyterian Church. Ruth was the first Welcome Wagon representative in the Kannapolis area and had worked as secretary for Fisher Real Estate and the Tarheel Girl Scouts Council. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Alexander Griffin in 1979. Mrs. Griffin is survived by son, William "Bill" T. Griffin of Kannapolis, two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
