Sadie Johnson Efird Perry, at age 96, ended her earthly journey peacefully at 8:30 AM on Saturday, August 1, 2015. Her life began on September 19, 1918 in Alexander County, Taylorsville, NC, the youngest child of six, born to Robert Clinton Johnson and Fannie Mae Sipe Johnson. She attended public school at Mt. Herman and Ellendale before graduating high school in Taylorsville, NC with the class of 1938.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Lonnie Marshall Efird and William Lamar “Lee” Perry, her parents, and siblings: Maude Harrington and Betty Armstrong (Kannapolis, NC), Nellie Murph (Concord, NC), Mary Pressley (Hiddenite, NC), and Albert Johnson (Newton, NC).
Those left to cherish her memory are nieces and nephews; Rachel Cartner and Archie Murph (Concord, NC), Evelyn Wiestling (Phoenix, AZ), Fred Harrington and Joyce Messer (Kannapolis, NC), Ralph Harrington (Fayetteville, NC), Sarah Jule Little (Flagler Beach, FL), Robert Larry Pressley (Conover, NC), Martha Hines, Leland and Danny Pressley (Taylorsville, NC), and special friends Terry and Debra Vannoy.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held in Kannapolis, NC at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel On Saturday, August 8 at 11:00 AM, with family members sharing love and a colorful memorial of “Aunt Sadie”. Entombment will be in the mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, 150 Memorial Parkway, Palm Coast, FL 32164, or the First Baptist Church of Flagler Beach, 300 N. Central Ave, Flagler Beach, FL 32136.
