Sam Keith Upchurch, Sr.

Mr. Sam Keith Upchurch, Sr., 77, of 1007 Heather Drive, Kannapolis, died Friday, December 10, 2004, at the Brian Center in Salisbury. A memorial service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. Monday, December 13, 2004, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Inurnment will be later at the VA National Cemetery in Salisbury. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. Born December 11, 1926, in Wake County, he was a son of the late Lonnie Malcolm Upchurch and Rachel Sauls Upchurch. He was a retired pipe insulator. Mr. Upchurch was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Genesis Baptist Church in China Grove. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Davis Upchurch; three sons, Sam Keith Upchurch, Jr. of Garner, Samuel Walter Upchurch of Raleigh and Eric Arlie Upchurch of Kannapolis; a sister, Nancy Upchurch Dean of Durham; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Genesis Baptist Church, 9710 Old Concord Road, China Grove, NC 28023.
