Sammy Franklin Hartzog went home to his Lord late Saturday, September 3, 2011 at the Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House of Cabarrus County. Sammy was born August 5, 1942 to the late Guy S. Hartzog and Hazel A. Phillips Hartzog of West Jefferson. Sammy was employed by Cannon Mills Company (1961 � 1969). He was employed by Skyland Mobile Homes in Harrisburg from 1969-1973 at which time he became disabled with MS. He was a faithful member of Kannapolis Church of God. Sammy is survived by his wife, Ann Hartzog of 50 years; son, Eddie Hartzog and wife, Tammy and daughter, Emily Hartzog Gibson all of Kannapolis; brothers, Ralph Hartzog, Roger Hartzog and wife Karen all of West Jefferson and Leyon Hartzog of Tennessee; sisters Toy Wyatt, Eldrith Dillard, and Edith Bare all of West Jefferson and six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Larry and Johnny Hartzog and sister, Ethel Fall all of West Jefferson. Sammy will always be remembered by his strong Christian faith and his beautiful woodwork. He was a loving and loyal husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him. A celebration of life will be held at the Kannapolis Church of God, 2211 West A. Street, officiated by Pastor Rev. Sam Crisp and Rev. James Griffin. The funeral service will begin 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 7, 2011. The family will receive family and friends from 5:30 to 6:30 pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Carolina Memorial Park.
