Shirley Lane Hamby

Mrs. Shirley Lane Hamby, 73, a loving mother and friend to everyone she met, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 6, 2009. A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Monday, November 9, 2009, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis. Rev. Charles Ray Ball will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at her residence, 908 Sloop Avenue, Kannapolis. Mrs. Hamby was born November 7, 1935 in Bryson City. She was a daughter of the late Dewey Lane and Gracie Ball Lane. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alicia Marie Sullivan; two brothers, Jud Lane and Virgil Lane; and her sister, Helen Herron. Mrs. Hamby is survived by four sons, Billy Olson, Darron Hamby, Barry Rann Hamby, Benji Hamby and wife Candyce; daughter, Denise Messina and husband Chris; ten grandchildren, Jason, Dustin and Kristen Sullivan, Heather Harley, Jessica Messina, Elizabeth, Julianna, Alexandria and Benjamin Hamby; three great grandchildren, Dayton, Alexys and Aleiyah Sullivan.
