Mr. Stamey Emmet "Jim" Torrence Jr., 74, of 245 Stamey Lane, died Saturday, October 4, 2003. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2003, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jim Strickland will officiate. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the residence at 245 Lois Lane in Salisbury. Mr. Torrence was born August 5, 1929 in Cabarrus County. He was the son of the late Stamey E. Torrence Sr. and Carrie Gardner Torrence. He was a retired master carpenter for Cannon Mills. Mr. Torrence is survived by four daughters, Julie Paxton, of Enochville, Lori Womble of Mount Ulla, Benita McDonald of Kannapolis and Shelia Stough of Salisbury; a son, James Torrence of Kannapolis; a sister, Ann Love of Kannapolis; twelve grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
