Mrs. Sueko Kawasaki Hardin, 90, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington after a brief illness.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Lady's Funeral Home.
Sueko was born December 25, 1934 in Nagasaki, Japan. She was a daughter of the late Manjiro and Hisa Kawasaki. She was a navy wife until her husband's retirement in 1975. She later became an employee with Cannon Mills in Kannapolis, NC, Plant 1, Number 7 spinning room until her retirement. She was a graduate of the CASAS education program. She had a green thumb and could grow anything. She enjoyed her flowers and could make beautiful arrangements. She was a great cook and always made sure we were fed with great food.. Anyone invited over to eat knew that we were going to have a treat eating good food. She was a big fan of Elvis and would listen to his music a lot especially during Christmas. More than anything, she enjoyed children, especially her own.grandchildren. She was happy to help them with their care and education. She always supported us and would always tell us she loved us. She will truly be missed.
During her stay at Lexington Healthcare Center, she enjoyed playing and winning at bingo, drawing and coloring pictures, singing during events and Sunday church services, making origami swans and passing them out to her friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Perry Hardin in 2000; daughter, Yoko Ross in 2007; and son, Roy Michael Hardin in 2008.
Sueko is survived by a son, Steven Hardin and wife Stacey of Salisbury; five grandchildren, Alex Remes and wife Diane of Greensboro, Patrick Ross and wife Mira of Lynchburg, VA, Steven M. Hardin of Salisbury, Lucas Hardin of Salisbury and Brittany Hardin of Salisbury; and two great grandchildren.
