Evangelist Mrs. Susie Mae Clowney Torrence, 80, went to be with her Lord Friday, May 13, 2022, surrounded by her family after her declining health over the past three months.
A funeral service is scheduled for 3:00 pm Friday, May 20, 2022, at Living Water Church of God. Rev. Vincent Tillman will officiate. Interment will be at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:45 pm Friday at Living Water Church of God.
Mrs. Torrence was born December 30, 1941 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late Leroy Clowney and Johnnie Mae White Clowney. She was a graduate of G.W. Carver in 1960. Mrs. Torrence worked as a towel inspector for over 40 years for Cannon Mills. She was called to preach in the ministry in 1975, and worked as a Sunday School Teacher, in the Prison Ministry, and was a missionary at local nursing homes. Mrs. Torrence was a member at Life Giving Church of God and known for her beautiful hats.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norris Lee Torrence.
Mrs. Torrence is survived by daughter, Juanivi Torrence of Kannapolis; six sisters, Queen Jones of Mt. Pleasant, Selestine Fesperman of Charlotte, Ruby Clowney Crouch of Kannapolis, Patsy Clowney Bloom of Locust, Mary "Frankie" Clowney Barnes and husband Robert of Kannapolis, and Janie Faye Collins of Hopewell, VA; brother, Leroy Clowney, Jr. of Kannapolis; granddaughter, Camillia Cunningham of Kannapolis; special bonus granddaughter, Rhonda Canaday of Concord; special friend, VandReita Jordan of Landis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
