Sybil Gaskill Gatton

Mrs. Sybil Gaskill Gatton, 77, of 208 Tanglewood Drive, Kannapolis, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at Transitional Health Services of Kannapolis. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2003, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Willie Rash and the Rev. David Haltom will officiate. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence. Born January 24, 1926, in Craven County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin F. Gaskill and the late Missouri Lumpton Gaskill. She retired after 45 years of service from Cannon Mills Company. Mrs. Gatton was a member of Centerview Baptist Church. Her husband, John C. Gatton, Sr., preceded her in death on January 18, 1984. Survivors include three daughters, Ann Daniel and her husband, Ron, of Kannapolis, Jean Squires of Edenton, and Janet Greene of Bessemer City, NC; three sons, Phil Gatton and his wife, Rhonda, of Kannapolis, Ben Gatton of China Grove, Johnny Gatton , Jr. of Concord; a brother, Ellis Gaskill of New Bern; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
