Terry Lee Childers

June 12, 1947 — March 10, 2017

Mr. Terry Lee Childers, 69, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem.

A Celebration of Life with military honors is scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Concord First Assembly Worship Center. Pastor Doug Witherup and Pastor Rick Ross will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mr. Childers was born June 12, 1947 in Cabarrus County. He was a son of the late Atwell Jeffie Childers and Melzie Shook Childers. He was a longtime business owner and US Marine Corps veteran having served in Vietnam.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his four brothers, Roland, Edward, Jimmy and Jeff Childers.

Mr. Childers is survived by his wife of 43 years, Tonda Ellington Childers; two sons, Jason Childers and wife Jennifer of Kannapolis and Jeremy Childers and wife Dara of Midland; two sisters, Sharon Greene and husband Van of Landrum, SC and Shelba Jean Linker and husband Bill of Calabash, NC; and two grandchildren, Graham and Harper Childers.

The family would like to thank the following units: Trauma Team at Baptist Medical Center, Rowan Rescue Squad, Rockwell Rural Fire Department, Gold Hill Fire Department and Granite Quarry Fire Department.
