Mr. Terry Mac McCollum, 66, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014, at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, December 15, 2014, at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Marcus Portis and Rev. Duane Melton will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm Monday prior to the service at Lady’s Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at his son Mark’s home.

Mr. McCollum was born on September 4, 1948 in Mooresville. He was a son of the late Alonzo Marvin McCollum and Kathleen Mary Campbell McCollum. He was the maintenance manager for Pillowtex Plant #6 and later retired from Kannapolis City Schools where he worked as a custodian at Kannapolis Middle School. Mr. McCollum graduated from AL Brown High School Class of 1966 and Appalachian State University. He was a member of Centerview Baptist Church. Mr. McCollum enjoyed 60’s music, antiques, their beach house at Oak Island and NASCAR. He coached Dixie League Baseball for many years. He could carry on a conversation with anyone on earth and out talk them.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Timmy Allyn McCollum.

Mr. McCollum is survived by his wife, Patricia Anne Gunnin McCollum; two sons, Mark Allen McCollum and wife, Christine, of China Grove and Patrick McCollum of Kannapolis; step mother, Wilma Rodgers McCollum of Garner; step sister, Genie Anderson of Garner; and two grandchildren, Megan McCollum and Sierra Phillips.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
