Thelma Solomon Hopkins

Thelma "Dene" Solomon Hopkins, 80, of Salisbury, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Transitional Health Services in Kannapolis. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2009, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. C. L. Kincaid will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009 at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home of her daughter, Vicki Scercy. Born March 11, 1929 in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Rob Solomon and Maude Graham Solomon. Mrs. Hopkins was a homemaker. She was a charter member of Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Mooresville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde D. Hopkins, Jr., who died February 13, 1997; and a daughter, Jewel Goodnight. Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Scercy and husband, Alan, of Salisbury; two sisters, Pauline Garrison of Indiana and Dorothy McGaha of Newnan, Georgia; a brother, Robert "Rab" Solomon of Concord; four grandchildren, Leigh Anne Stiller of Rockwell, Randy Goodnight and William Goodnight, both of Kannapolis, Danny Morris of Charlotte; and two great-grandchildren, Logan Stiller and Hayden Stiller.
