Thomas Joseph Malina

Thomas Joseph Malina, 80, of Kannapolis passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p. m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Forbis Kivett will officiate. The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 p. m. Saturday, prior to the service, at Lady's Funeral Home. Born on November 20, 1927 in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Anthony Rauert and Agnes Malina Cassidy McAuley. He retired from the New York City Transit Authority. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen McAuley. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Rose Restucci Malina; 10 children, Ann Marie (Fred) Wells of Concord, Thomas (Kate) Malina of Pine Bush, NY, Joseph (Judy) Malina of Lowell, Alice (Karl) Hauser of Concord, Lee (Stephen) Malina-Ciccaglione of Port St. Lucie, FL, Anthony R. Malina of Bonifay, FL, John (Patricia) Malina of Winston Salem, Karl A. Malina of Kannapolis, Robert (Sarah) Malina of Kannapolis, Tina (John) Taylor of Newton; a sister, Diana Restucci of Orlando, Florida; one brother, Vincent Cassidy of Jupiter, FL; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren. The family request that memorials be sent to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 in memory of Mr. Malina.
