Tony Arouther Marlowe Sr.

October 8, 1942 — January 18, 2015

Tony Arouther Marlowe, 72, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015, at Carolinas Medical Center-Main.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 22, 2015, at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tommy Young will officiate. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Concord.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Lady’s Funeral Home.

Tony was born on October 8, 1942 in Cabarrus County. He was a son of the late Gilbert Lee Marlowe and Janie Deal Marlowe. He was a self employed truck driver who leased to Superior Carriers. Tony was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed all types of fishing, especially where they were biting. Tony loved to “tinker” on old cars, including his 1954 Ford. He loved dressing up as Santa Claus for children and his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathryn Dana Lawson.

Tony is survived by his wife, Betty Riddle-Marlowe; daughter, Dorothy Gail Marlow of Kannapolis; three sons, Tony A. Marlow, II and Richard Ray Ballard, both of Kannapolis, and David Scott Riddle and wife, Kimberly “Mushala”, of China Grove; two sisters, Ann Baxter and Lynda Bostian, both of Kannapolis; three brothers, Jerry Marlowe of Concord, Donald Marlowe of West Palm Beach, FL and Albert Marlowe of Rising Fawn, GA; and five grandchildren, Elizabeth Marlow, Kelsey Riddle, Zachary Roberts, Brandon Ballard, and Lucas Lawson.
