Tonya Genene Wilkes

Mrs. Tonya Genene Starnes Wilkes, 52, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016, at Carolinas Healthcare System - NorthEast in Concord.

A funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Sunday, September 11, 2016, at Concord First Assembly. Pastor Rick Ross and Pastor Susan Ross will officiate. Interment will be held at 10:00 am Monday, September 12, 2016 at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 pm - 3:45 pm Sunday at Concord First Assembly.

Tonya was born December 11, 1963 in Rowan County, NC. She was a daughter of George Melton Starnes and wife Becky of Landis and Judy White Reed and husband Richard of Concord. She worked for Concord First Assembly as a food service manager. Tonya was an active member of Concord First Assembly. She was a loving and caring wife and mother. She graduated from South Rowan High School class of 1982.

Mrs. Wilkes, in addition to her parents, is survived by her husband of 31 years Jesse Colon “Buddy” Wilkes; two sons, Garrett Wilkes and Joshua Wilkes, both of China Grove; sister, Michelle Klingensmith and husband Howard of Concord.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses on the oncology floor at Carolinas HealthCare System-NorthEast for the loving care and support she received during her illness.
