Troy Earl Brooks

Mr. Troy Earl Brooks, 76, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, September 19, 2013, at Lady’s Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Josh Hughes will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 pm Thursday, prior to the service at Lady’s Funeral Home.

The son of the late Tracy and Faye Deal Brooks, Troy was born on October 9, 1936 in Cabarrus County. After graduating from Granite Quarry High School, he attended Catawba College, served his country proudly in the U.S. Army, and later retired from Cone Mills in Salisbury. Mr. Brooks was active in Lakewood Baptist Church as a member of the choir and as a Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Cannon Masonic Lodge #626 AF & AM, and loved all outdoor activities, especially fishing and bird watching. His hobbies included woodworking, drawing, and painting.

Mr. Brooks is survived by his wife, Darlene Davis Brooks; three children, Shohn Brooks and wife Monica of Harrisburg, Devin Brooks and wife Hope of Landis and Shannon Boyles and husband C.J. of Kannapolis; brother, Larry Joe Brooks of Kannapolis; and two grandchildren, Ella and Linzie Brooks.

Troy was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all..

Memorials may be made to Lakewood Baptist Church, 806 Kluttz Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081..
