Rev. Vaudry Ellis Tucker, Sr., 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 11, 2015.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 am Thursday, October 15, 2015, at Zion Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. Daniel McClamrock and Rev. Randy Tucker will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at 7:00 pm Wednesday at the church and will remain at the church until the funeral hour.
Vaudry was born February 2, 1942 in Cabarrus County. He was a son of the late Gurley Burns Tucker, Sr. and Pearl Rimer Tucker. In his early years, he worked for Massey Septic Tank Company. For almost 40 years, he has been the pastor for Zion Freewill Baptist Church in Kannapolis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sylvia Campbell; and three brothers, Junior Tucker, Clarence Tucker and Larry Tucker, Sr.
Rev. Tucker is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sarah Mullis Tucker; two sons, Vaudry Tucker Jr. and wife Tonya and Randy Tucker and wife Elaine, all of Kannapolis; daughter, Wanda Tucker Finney of Kannapolis; two sisters, Nancy Milam and Cathy Hill, both of Kannapolis; five brothers, Grady Tucker and Gerald Tucker, both of Concord, Red Tucker of Rockwell, Jerry Tucker and Rev. Ronald Tucker, both of Kannapolis; seven grandchildren, Brandi Tucker, Donnie Milam, Edward Tucker, Andy Tucker, Nikki Rutledge, Michelle Stevenson and Andy Hodge; and five great grandchildren, Jason, Christian, Caleb, Chloe and Matthew.
