Mrs. Virginia Alexander Brown, 96, formerly of 3050 North Cannon Blvd., Kannapolis, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at Big Elm Retirement Center in Kannapolis. Interment will be at 1:30 pm Friday, January 27, 2012, at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. A funeral service is scheduled for 4:00 pm Friday, January 27, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Jarrod Lanning will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:45 pm Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church prior to the service. Mrs. Brown was born November 2, 1915 in Kannapolis, the daughter of the late Ira Newton Alexander and Mattie Karriker Alexander. She was educated in Kannapolis City Schools. On August 15, 1942, she married Brooks Deaton Brown. She was a homemaker and also did reweaving during her adult years. Virginia was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Brooks, on December 31, 2008 Virginia is survived by daughter, Barbara Atwell and her husband, Bobby of Salisbury; grandson, Adrian Parker and his wife Lindsey and great granddaughter, Vera Lynn Parker. A special thanks to all the people at Big Elm Retirement Center for the care they provided for Mrs. Brown over the last several years.
