Virginia Simmons Safrit

Mrs. Virgina Simmons Ford Safrit, 64, of 737 Irish Potato Road, Concord, died Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at NorthEast Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2003, at North Kannapolis Baptist Church. The Rev. David Myers will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence. Born August 29, 1938, in Madison County, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Clifford L. Simmons and the late Eunie Dodd Simmons. In addition to he parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard Ford. Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Safrit; four daughters, Connie Walker, Ann Talley and Karrie Safrit, all of Concord and Amy Pearson of Kannapolis; one son, Dale Safrit of Concord; four sisters, Evie Griffin and Dot Waller of Salisbury, Karen Shelton of Kannapolis, Betty Robinson of Concord; two brothers, Grover Tolbert of Locust and Lonnie Simmons of Shelby; and 10 grandchildren.
