Willard Ward

Mr. Willard Ward, 77, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016, at his residence.

A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at Jackson Park Pentecostal Holiness Church. Rev. Keith Overcash will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Ward was born November 14, 1938 in Columbus County. He was a son of the late Jimmie Ward and Dorothy Ikner Ward. He retired from Cannon Mills where he worked as a fixer in the machine shop. In September of 1974, he received his welding certification from Rowan Technical Community College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in Korea and was a member of Jackson Park Pentecostal Holiness Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys “Faye” Phillips Ward; a daughter, Lori Ward Brooks; and four brothers, J.C. Ward, Ronald Ward, Donald Ward and Billy Ward.

Mr. Ward is survived by three children, Tony Ward of Kannapolis, Teresa Roberts and husband Mark and Jeffery Ward and wife Leta, all of China Grove; sister, Betty Bradley of Kannapolis; four brothers, James Ward and wife Frances of Myrtle Beach, Wade Ward and wife Deborah of Kannapolis, Jack Ward of Virginia Beach and Lloyd Ward and wife Robin of Midland; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
