Mr. William "Carey" Funderburk, 86, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at his home in China Grove.

A funeral service is scheduled for 12:00 pm Monday, April 27, 2026, at Bright Light Baptist Church. Dr. Ronnie Simpson will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.

The family will receive friends from 11 to 11:45 am Monday at Bright Light Baptist Church.

Carey was born September 4, 1939 in Charlotte. He was the son of the late Marsh Evans Funderburk and Georgia Williams Funderburk. He worked for Southern National Bank as an Auditor and served as the Vice President. He was a member of Bright Light Baptist Church in Concord.

William was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was known for his generous heart and kind spirit. Many memories were made at his home with his beloved wife, Diane, children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his legacy of kindness, generosity, and love for family will live on in each of them.

In addition to his parents, Carey was preceded in death by his son, Donnie Wayne Brigman; and his sister, Sylvia Kiker.

William is survived by wife, Diane Funderburk of China Grove; two sons, Marsh Funderburk and wife Angie of Mooresville, Richie Brigman and wife Gina of China Grove; six grandchildren, Justin Funderburk and wife Brittany, Jermey Funderburk, Jenna Funderburk, Kristi Brown and husband Brandon, Amber Mullis and husband Josh, Holly Brigman and husband Cody; 5 great grandchildren, Kinley, Harper, and Tucker Mullis, Layla Ziemba, and Grayson Funderburk.
