William Clifford Karriker

Mr. William Clifford Karriker, 88, of 1360 Old Beatty Ford Road, died Saturday, January 14, 2006, at Hospice of Union County in Monroe. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, January 16, 2006, at Eastwood Baptist Church in Kannapolis. The body will lie in-state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Rev. Ralph Robinette will officiate. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6:00 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. At other times, the family will be at the home of Mr. Karriker. Mr. Karriker was born August 25, 1917 in Rowan County. He was the son of late George Clifford Karriker and Nannie Bostian Karriker. He was retired from Concord Telephone Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Mull Karriker, in April 2004 and four sisters. Mr. Karriker is survived by three daughters, Barbara Webb and husband, Don, of China Grove, Betty Baucom and husband, Wilson, of Laurinburg, and Donna Treece and husband, Tony, of Concord; three sisters, Gladys Kovarik and Shirley Bovee′, both of Mooresville, and Annie Ruth Mercer of New Haven, IL; nine grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
