Mr. Willie Francis Freeze, 88, of Freeze Road, Kannapolis, died Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at his home. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2009, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Robert D. Howard will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Lady's Funeral Home. Born August 2, 1920 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Floyd C. Freeze Carrie Craven Freeze. He retired from the former Cannon Mills, and was a farmer and meat-cutter. A U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Freeze served with the 128th Combat Engineers during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Irene Donahue Freeze; two sisters, Julie F. Barnhardt and Mary F. Wallace; and a brother, Bud Freeze. Survivors include a daughter, Karen Irene Freeze Dabbs of Fayetteville; son, Jerry Freeze and wife Faye of Kannapolis; two sisters, Pauline Beaver and Helen Keever, both of Kannapolis; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
