Albert Broadus Hamilton, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Albert Broadus Hamilton, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2010, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville after a brief illness.
Mr. Hamilton was born July 11, 1917 to the late Albert Broadus and Barbara Watson Hamilton of Jonesboro, NC.
He was a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, earning a BS Degree in Business Administration and later a degree in Banking from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. Mr. Hamilton was a lifelong Carolina basketball fan. He was an active elder in the Presbyterian Church for 50 years. He served in the US Army in Germany during World War II, earning the rank of Captain.
Mr. Hamilton is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Mary Celest Dreher, and his son, Albert Broadus Hamilton, III.
Surviving Mr. Hamilton include his wife of 64 years, Evelyn; daughter, Kathryn Hamilton; daughter-in-law, Betsy Hamilton Smith; three grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, January 2, 2011, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis. Mrs. Betsy Hamilton Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home.
