Anthony Gerald Wilkinson's Obituary
Mr. Anthony Gerald Wilkinson, 71, of Scottie Place, Charlotte, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009, following a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Genesis Baptist Church. The Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The body will be placed in the church from 2:30 until 3 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will make headquarters at the home of a daughter, Crystal Wright, 2015 Townview Drive, Kannapolis.
Born October 26, 1937 in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Noah Thaddeus Wilkinson III and Mattie Pearl Sides Wilkinson. Gerald was a graduate of the Kannapolis City Schools. He was an Air Force veteran and served in the North Carolina Air National Guard. He retired from C. C. Dickson Company in Charlotte. One of the things he enjoyed greatly was playing with the bands, Valants and Delmonicos.
Survivors include three daughters, Crystal Wright and husband Scott of Kannapolis, Sheri Weast and husband Randy of China Grove, and Angela Brock and husband, Jeff of Kannapolis; one son, Gerald Wilkinson, Jr. and wife Cristine of Ft. Mill, SC; seven grandchildren, Kristen Brock, Dillon Brock, Ashley Goodman and husband Casey, Emily Weast, Justin Kelly , Joshua Kelly and Jacob Wilkinson; one great-grandchild, Hayden Kelly; a very special friend, Linda Fleming; and his dog, Nanook.
