Archie Laban Chapman's Obituary
Mr. Archie Laban "A.L." Chapman, 84, of Kannapolis, died Friday, March 16, 2007, at Hospice House.
Masonic services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Ken Davis and the Rev. Dave Cash will officiate. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2007, at Three Forks Baptist Church Cemetery in Taylorsville. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the interment.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Born September 22, 1922, in Taylorsville, he was the son of the late Peter T. Chapman and Finnie Brown Chapman. He retired from Cannon Mills as supervisor of the Yarn Department. He was past president of the Cabarrus County Democrat Party. Mr. Chapman was a US Army veteran of World War II. He was a Mason and a Shriner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mattie Chapman White, Thelma Chapman Sales and Taffie Chapman Burton; and three brothers, Theodore Chapman, R. Max Chapman and Jacob Horace Chapman.
He is survived by a nephew, Asa Chapman of Waldorf, Maryland; a special friend, Colleen Barber, and her son, Odell Barber and wife, Lori, of Kannapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
