Ava Vernon Rickard's Obituary
Mrs. Ava Vernon Cooke Rickard, 96, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015, at Best of Care Assisted Living in Kannapolis.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at St. John’s Reformed Church in Kannapolis. Dr. Joe Coltrane will officiate. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 pm Wednesday, at the church, prior to the service.
Mrs. Rickard was born September 23, 1918 in Iredell County. She was a daughter of the late Charles Linden Cooke and Martha Mills Cooke.
Mrs. Rickard is survived by her son, Hearne “Rick” Franklin Rickard, Jr., and wife, Danita, of Kannapolis; one granddaughter, Amy Rickard; two grandsons, Alex Rickard, and wife, Mari, and Casey Rickard; three great-granddaughters, Rachael, Liana, and Kiersten Rickard; and one special friend, Pug Coggins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hearne Franklin Rickard, Sr., and one son, Arnold Carl Rickard.
