Billie Gene Morrison's Obituary
Mr. Billie Gene Morrison, 89, of Kannapolis, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
A funeral service is scheduled for 3:30 pm Sunday, July 24, 2016, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tim Yates and Rev. Leon Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis with Military Honors conducted by Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:15 pm Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mr. Morrison was born April 10, 1927 in Alexander County, NC. He was a son of the late John Henry Morrison and Virginia Dare Gooden Morrison. He retired from Burlington Industries in 1989, was a veteran of the United States Navy, an active member of Royal Oaks Baptist Church, and was a member of the Joel Tyson Sunday School Class. Billie formerly sang in the church choir and enjoyed going to the Cabarrus Senior Center for the dances on Friday nights.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Corine Scarborough Morrison; brother, Wade H. Morrison; sister, Gladys Thomas; and second wife, Clara Perkins Morrison.
Mr. Morrison is survived by daughter, Barbara Pressley and husband, Russ of Harrisburg; son, Danny G. Morrison and wife, Andrea of Mt. Ulla; granddaughter, Jennifer Boyd and husband, Eric; grandson, Thomas Shook; and great-grandchildren, Evan and Liam Boyd, and Gabrielle and Lucas Shook.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Royal Oaks Baptist Church, 904 Texas Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083, or to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
