Billy Ray Hancock's Obituary
Mr. Billy Ray Hancock, 78, of Kannapolis passed away at CMC�NorthEast on Friday, September 10, 2010.
He was born on May 19, 1932 in Mt. Croghan, SC, a son of the late Lonnie Preston Hancock and Essie Steen Hancock. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Cannon Mills & Fieldcrest Cannon Mills, Plant # 4 with 40 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings: Sarah Griffin, Carroll Hancock, Junior Hancock, Beatrice Raffaldt, and Fon Tucker.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Creech Hancock; 3 children, Donna Hancock and Danny Hancock, both of Kannapolis and Kathy Hancock of China Grove. Two sisters, Melba Hancock Steele of Morven, NC and Kate Hancock Sellers of Ruby, SC. In addition, he is survived by a brother-in-law, Lawson Raffaldt and wife Jennie of Mt. Croghan, SC and a sister-in-law, Rosa Hancock of Kannapolis. Two grandchildren, Anna Claire Hancock and Meredith Hancock; both of Concord and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, September 13, 2010, at 12:30 pm with Rev. Catherine George officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 12:30 pm Monday at Lady's Funeral Home.
The family requests that memorials be directed to First Presbyterian Church, 201 Vance Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081 in memory of Mr. Hancock.
