Brownie Lee Edwards' Obituary
Mrs. Brownie Lee Martin Edwards, formerly of McLain Road Kannapolis, died Monday, January 26, 2004 while residing with her daughter Barbara Grant in Charlotte.
Services will be held 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 30, 2004, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis. The Rev. David Icenhour will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mrs. Edwards was born in Anson County on September 16, 1910, a daughter of the late Horace Fredrick Martin and Lilly Goldie Mills Martin. She moved to Kannapolis in 1940 and became active in politics and church and retired from Cannon Mills after more than 30 years. She was an active member of Skyland Baptist Church in Kannapolis for many years.
Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Edwards, and a daughter, Goldie Edwards of the home.
Survivors include six children, Margaret Lauzon, Ann Huneycutt, Ruby Sisk and Sonny Edwards, all of Kannapolis, Barbara Grant and husband, Kenneth, of Charlotte and Clara Goodman and husband, Bob, of Sunset Harbor, NC; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Lucille Martin Grant of Monroe, NC, Mrs. Addie Martin Price of Pageland, SC and Mrs. Mary Methel Martin Griffin of Spanish Fork, Utah.
