Charles Collins Query, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Charles Collins Query, Sr. age 92, of Trinity Oaks, Salisbury, died Friday, April 23, 2010.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Monday in Lady's Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis. The Rev. Harold Bales will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 until 1:45 pm Monday prior to the service.
Charles was born in Harrisburg, NC, on December 22, 1917, a son of James Edward Query and Fannie Orr Query. He married Frankie Fincher in 1956 and they have one son, Dr. Charles Query, Jr. of New York City.
After graduating from Odell High School and the Charlotte Dental Prosthetic School, he worked in a dental laboratory in Charlotte. He was then inducted into the U.S. Army where he served in the 1st Armored Division and was involved in three invasions during World War II, Africa, Sicily and Anzio.
After four years and eight months he was discharged and settled in Kannapolis. From 1945-1984, Charles was co-owner of Query Bros. Men's Store. Then from 1985-1995, he and his wife owned and operated the C-F Query Formal Wear Shop.
A member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Charles was a member of the W.J. Bullock Sunday school class and served on the Administrative Board. He was a charter member of the Kannapolis Golf Club and past member of the Young Businessmen's Club and the Kannapolis Jaycees.
Charles was a life time member of the American Legion, Beaver-Pittman Post #115, having served as vice-commander in 1997-1998 and commander for 1998-1999, he also served on their District Council.
