Charles John Wilcox Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Charles John Wilcox, Jr., 76, passed away Friday, March 29, 2019, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
A graveside service is scheduled for him at 11:00 am Monday, April 15, 2019, at the Salisbury National Cemetery. Pastor Mike Roper will officiate and military honors will be presented by the U.S. Marines.
Mr. Wilcox was born May 6, 1942 in Walton, NY. He was a son of the late Charles John Wilcox, Sr. and Charlotte Ruth Van Gordon Wilcox. Mr. Wilcox worked for his father, Charles Sr., who was the owner and operator of St. Lawrence Freightways. Following his career with the family owned business, Mr. Wilcox owned and operated Pride Transport.
Mr. Wilcox served in the United States Marine Corps and retired from the NY Army National Guard as a Staff Sergeant. Mr. Wilcox was a long time member of the New York State Transportation Club. Trucking was his passion along with other hobbies including snowmobiling, racecars, exercising and camping. Mr. Wilcox was also a member of the 1969 Watertown Red & Black Football Team.
Mr. Wilcox is survived by his wife, Edna Ferrell Wilcox; daughter, Katrina Wilcox of Raleigh; two sons, Charles Wilcox III and wife Christine of Huntersville and Jonathan Wilcox of Concord; three brothers, Terry Wilcox and Jeffery Wilcox, both of Florida and Michael Wilcox of North Carolina; one sister, Patricia Pittman of Arizona; and two grandchildren Ashleigh Charleston and Charles Wilcox IV.
