Curtis Vestol Cooke, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Curtis Vestol Cooke, Jr., 79, a born again Christian, died Monday, June 11, 2007 at NorthEast Medical Center.
Mr. Cooke was born July 2, 1927 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late, Curtis V. Cook, Sr. and Bessie Jeanette Edwards Cooke. A graduate of Winecoff School, he was a heavy equipment operator with Blythe Construction Company, where he retired in 1991. During World War II, he served in the US Navy. He enjoyed horticulture and birds.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Neva Mae Lee Cooke.
Mr. Cooke is survived by a son, Curtis V. "Tony" Cooke III of Kannapolis; a daughter, Janet Cooke Burnsed of Cross Hill, SC; one sister, Geraldine Cooke Booth of Kannapolis; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a close friend and companion, Liz Clay.
