Daniel Sidney Hartis, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Daniel Sidney "D.S." Hartis, Jr., 77, of 2207 Woodlawn Street, Kannapolis, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Carolinas Medical Center-Northeast.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with Masonic Rites conducted by Allen-Graham Masonic Lodge No. 695.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home.
Born April 18, 1931, in Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Daniel Sidney Hartis, Sr. and Dorcus Viola Baker Hartis. He retired as a truck driver from Chemical Leman Tank Lines in Charlotte. D.S. was a member of Genesis Baptist Church. A 33rd degree Mason, he was a member of Allen-Graham Masonic Lodge No. 695 and the Scottish Rite. He was also a Shriner.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Hunsucker Hartis, who died April 20, 2008; a daughter, Linda Carol Hartis; grandson, Jason Cecil Clarke; and two sisters, Martha York and Uldena Browning.
Survivors include his daughter, Sharon Hartis Clarke and husband Cecil of Cameron; sister, Lametta Christie of Indian Trail; grandson, Shannon D. Clarke of Cameron; three great-grandchildren, Whitley A. Clarke, Sierra D. Clarke and Devin D. Clarke; and numerous nieces and nephews.
