David Luther Freeze's Obituary
David Luther "Luke" Freeze, Jr., 91, of Trinity Oaks Lutheran Retirement Community, Salisbury, died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at the Lutheran Home, Salisbury after a short illness. He formerly lived for 88 years on South East Avenue, Kannapolis.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, July 24, 2011, at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church in Kannapolis. The Rev. Richard A. Rhoades will officiate. A private interment for family members will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on at the church prior to the service in the church parlor.
Born October 4, 1919 in Kannapolis, Luke was the youngest of eight children born to the late Lottie Long Freeze and David Luther Freeze, Sr. He is preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
He graduated in 1938 from J. W. Cannon High School and attended Wake Forest College. Luke was an active life member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. He was retired in 1984 from Cannon Mills Company where he was former General Superintendent of Distributions Centers. He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. Active in his community, he was a member of American Legion Post 115. He was also a member of Cannon Memorial Masonic Lodge no. 626.
He is survived by his wife, Catherine Brown Freeze, whom he married on November 20, 1941 and daughter, Elaine Freeze Vann of Elk Grove, CA.

Mr. Freeze's life was distinguished by his love for his family, his service to his church and his community and his devotion as a husband, father and friend.
