David Lee Garver's Obituary
David Lee Garver, 91, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast, surrounded by his loving family.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Kannapolis Church of God. Pastor Greg Sloop and Pastor Sam Crisp will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 pm Saturday prior to the service at the church.
David was born on June 8, 1923 in Rowan County to the late William (Mitch) Garver and Emma Galimore Garver. Mr. Garver served in the US Army during World War II. He worked for Cannon Mills Company until his retirement in 1988. David was a member of Kannapolis Church of God. He enjoyed talking to people. David never met a stranger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Garver; two sisters, Bea Owens and Faye Tucker; and son, Don Garver.
David is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marie Shirley Garver; son, Keith Mitchell Garver and his wife, Fran, of Kannapolis; two grandsons, John Garver and wife, April, and great granddaughter, Gray, of Goldsboro and Lee Garver and wife, Kiley, of Charlotte and soon to be joined by another great grandchild; and two special nieces, Jennifer Pittman and Linda Deaver.
Memorials may be made to Big Elm Ministries or Kannapolis Church of God, Choir Fund, 2211 West A Street, Kannapolis, NC 28083.
