David Alan Lee's Obituary
Mr. David Alan Lee, 65, of Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina, peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on Friday, March 24, 2023, with family by his side.
David was born on August 15, 1957, in Washington, D.C. He was the son of Richard Lee and Dena Sanger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother Pat Lee, stepfather James Sanger, Jr., and beloved grandparents, aunts, and uncles. He was also preceded in death by two babies called home to God before birth.
He greatly loved all who survived him, including his wife, Mary, his daughter, Grace, his son, Chris McKee (Dana), and grandson Ethan McKee. He is also survived by his special sister, Lori Lee Stokes, wonderful brother-in-law, Scott, and awesome nephews, Ryan and Connor. Also surviving him are sisters Karen Nix (David) and Kathy Lee, as well as by many cousins, including Patty Leckliter, Bruce Hoyt (Donna), Wesley Hoyt, and Russell Hoyt. He is also survived by numerous loving in-laws and their children.
David was an active member of Kannapolis Church of God. He was a proud long-distance truck driver for most of his life and thrived in his business. His favorite hobby was karting, having raced 40+ years, and he was part of the World Karting Association, the Woodbridge Kart Club, and the Southern Kart Club. He loved his church family, his trucking buddies, the entire karting community, neighbors, and friends. He enjoyed working on his passions in his beloved shop.
He was a humble and quiet man who above all loved God and his family. As his friends and family know, once you got to know him, he would engage in conversation on any subject you chose. He cherished his friends and maintained all his friendships throughout his life. His family and friends were very important to him and he was loved and respected by all.
Mary and Grace are so grateful to every health provider and staff member at the Doctors Hospital JMS Burn Center in Augusta, GA, and the staff at The Jeffrey Vaden Chavis House. They appreciate the love and care shown to David and his family these last three weeks. The family asks that you continue to pray for the patients and families who remain at the JMS Burn Center.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3:30 pm on Saturday, April 1, at Kannapolis Church of God, Kannapolis, NC. The Celebration of Life Service will follow at 4:00 pm. Interment will be private.
Memorials may be sent to the Burn Foundation of America (Augusta, GA, https://burnfoundation.net/) and Kannapolis Church of God (Kannapolis, NC, https://www.kcog.org/).
