David Luther Lunsford's Obituary
Mr. David Luther Lunsford, 74, passed away Friday, June 27, 2025, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
David was born April 25, 1951 in Concord. He was the son of the late Dorsey Watson Lunsford and Mary Sue McDuffie Lunsford. He retired from National Starch and Chemical Company in Salisbury after many years. He grew up at Bethpage Methodist Church, but in recent years he attended Piedmont Baptist Church.
David was an avid hunter, fisherman and horseman. He bred and raised horses and loved cattle. He also raised pheasants, chickens, roosters, doves and peacocks. Daily, he rose with the sun and was always on his four-wheeler, golf cart, tractor or horse.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Thomas Rachel Steelman Lunsford; a daughter, Sherry Renee Lunsford; and sister, Deborah Jane Lunsford Gillespie.
David is survived by daughter, Lisa Lunsford-Drouin (Matt) of Indian Land, SC; son, Sonny Lunsford (Stacy) of Mooresville; three grandchildren, Kristi Leigh Brawley (Shawn), Austin David Lunsford (Lydia) and Drake Moses Drouin; and three great grandchildren, Lawson Brawley, Macon Brawley and Hayes Sonny Lunsford.
